1. Project Manager – Balance of Plant (BoP)
- Designation:
- AGM / DGM / GM / Senior Manager (based on experience)
- Location:
- Project Site / Head Office (flexible based on project phase)
- Industry:
- Thermal Power / Infrastructure / EPC
Role Objective
- Lead end-to-end execution, planning, tendering, and cost management of Balance of Plant (BoP) packages in thermal power projects
- Ensure delivery within defined timelines, cost parameters, and quality standards
Key Responsibilities
A. Project Execution & Management
- Lead execution of BoP scope including:
- Ash Handling Systems (AHS)
- Coal Handling Plant (CHP)
- Water Systems (CW, DM, WTP, ETP)
- Cooling Towers
- BoP electrical and mechanical packages
- Monitor project schedules (PERT/CPM, Primavera/MSP)
- Ensure adherence to milestones, quality standards, and safety protocols
- Coordinate with engineering, procurement, and construction teams
- Interface with clients, consultants, OEMs, and contractors
B. Tendering, Estimation & Costing
- Lead tender preparation for BoP packages
- Prepare detailed cost estimates and budgets
- Conduct techno-commercial evaluation of bids
- Participate in contract negotiations and finalization
- Benchmark costs using market intelligence and past project data
C. Contract & Commercial Management
- Administer EPC/BoP contracts ensuring compliance
- Manage variation orders, claims, and change orders
- Track billing, certifications, and cash flow
- Identify contractual risks and mitigation strategies
D. Planning, Monitoring & Reporting
- Establish project control systems for tracking:
- Cost vs Budget
- Schedule vs Plan
- Resource utilization
- Present MIS reports to senior management
- Identify delays and implement recovery plans
E. Team Leadership
- Lead multidisciplinary teams across engineering, procurement, and execution
- Mentor junior engineers and project staff
- Drive performance, productivity, and accountability
Educational Qualification
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical / Electrical / Civil / Instrumentation)
- MBA (optional, preferred for senior roles)
Experience Required
- Senior Manager / AGM: 15–20 years
- DGM / GM: 20+ years
- Strong experience in thermal power plant projects (preferably 100 MW or above)
- Proven experience in BoP execution, tendering, and estimation
Technical Competencies
- Strong understanding of BoP systems and BTG integration
- Expertise in cost estimation, budgeting, and tendering
- Familiarity with EPC contracts and FIDIC conditions
Preferred Industry Exposure
- Thermal Power Plants (coal-based preferred)
